Automobile News: Skoda Auto India is celebrating its 25th anniversary by launching the much-awaited Skoda Octavia RS in India. This sporty sedan will be sold in limited numbers and comes as a CBU import. Priced at Rs 49.99 lakh, ex-showroom, the Octavia RS has been popular among Indian car enthusiasts since its first launch in 2004 for its strong performance and sporty look. Ashish Gupta, Brand Director of Skoda Auto India, said the car has received a great response and continues to excite driving fans across the country, reflecting the trust and passion customers have for the Skoda brand.
The Octavia RS comes with a 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine, generating 265 Hp of power and 370 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.4 seconds. Its top speed is electronically capped at 250 kmph.
The new Octavia RS carries Skoda's bold and sporty design language. It features full LED Matrix headlights, LED tail lamps with dynamic indicators, and black exterior accents. The car rides on 19-inch Elias anthracite alloy wheels with 225/40 R19 low-profile tyres, giving it an aggressive stance. It measures 4,709 mm long, 1,829 mm wide, and 1,457 mm tall, with a 2,677 mm wheelbase. The boot offers 600 litres of space, which can expand to 1,555 litres when the rear seats are folded. The Octavia RS is available in five attractive colours: Mamba Green, Candy White, Race Blue, Magic Black, and Velvet Red.
Inside, the Octavia RS offers a mix of sportiness and comfort. The cabin has Suedia/leather seats with red stitching, sports seats with electric adjustment, memory, heating, and massage options. Other features include ambient lighting, a virtual cockpit, three-zone climate control, wireless charging, and a 32.77 cm infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wirelessly.
The Octavia RS comes with Skoda’s latest ADAS features like Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Assist, and Intelligent Park Assist. Safety is enhanced with 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera, ISOFIX mounts, Head-Up Display, and stability systems. The car also has a Canton 675W 11-speaker audio system with subwoofer, an electric boot with virtual pedal, and several Simply Clever features.
